3 Cities Look for Alternatives to Natural Gas after Dozens of Explosions

Nearly 9,000 Massachusetts households are having to make do without natural gas after aging pipes failed and caused to house fires and explosions across three cities in mid-September. Instead of rebuilding the natural gas infrastructure there, environmental advocates say this is an opportunity to move thousands of homes to electric heating.
