Carbon Dioxide Levels Grew at Record Pace in 2016, UN Says

Carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere grew at a record rate in 2016 and hit a level not seen for hundreds of thousands of years. The United Nations says CO2 averaged 403.3 parts per million over the year—up from 400 ppm in 2015. The growth rate was 50 percent faster than the average over the past decade.
