Climate Change Threatens World’s Largest Seagrass Carbon Stores

In the summer of 2010 to 2011, a marine heat wave near Western Australia elevated water temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, destroying seagrass and causing the release of 9 million metric tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
