Royal Dutch Shell shareholders overwhelmingly rejected a resolution to set specific emission-reduction targets. The company’s CEO had urged the rejection, saying the company is taking leadership on the issue but needs flexibility in steering the company through its life-changing energy transition. He said Shell is on a path that is in line with meeting goals of the Paris Agreement, and is already ahead of what activist shareholders are demanding.
