The gas station chain that was owned by Mike Pence’s family has left more than $20 million worth of environmental remediation costs for Indiana taxpayers. When it went bankrupt, Kiel Bros. Oil Co. left behind 85 contaminated sites, including underground tanks that leaked toxic chemicals into soil and streams.
