Baltimore sued 26 fossil fuel companies on Friday, becoming the latest in a string of cities, counties and states seeking to hold the industry financially accountable for the threats posed by climate change. City Solicitor Andre M. Davis said the companies knew for decades that the use of their products was warming the atmosphere but failed to take steps to reduce that harm.
