In its latest retreat from federal action on climate change, the Trump administration proposed to lift rules on the leaking and uncontrolled release of the potent greenhouse gas methane from oil and gas operations. It would save the industry a relatively small amount of money, and the EPA acknowledges it would increase pollution, greenhouse gases and public health costs.
