Mining Company’s Decision Lets Trudeau Off Hook, But Doesn’t Resolve Canada’s Climate Debate

Canadian mining company Teck Resources Limited announced that it’s shelving a major oil project, sparing Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a difficult decision that had pitted his party and environmental advocates against the country’s powerful oil industry, and allowing Teck to get credit for ditching a project that, with oil prices low, was unlikely to move forward anyway.
