Britain has gone without coal-fired power generation for its longest stretch since the Industrial Revolution, breaking the existing record of 18 consecutive days on Tuesday, The Guardian reports. The record comes amid an aggressive push by the country’s government to phase out coal-generated power, as well as plummeting electricity demand due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
