Global greenhouse gas emissions are set to plunge nearly 8 percent this year, the largest drop ever recorded, as worldwide lockdowns to fight the coronavirus have triggered an “unprecedented” decline in the use of fossil fuels, a new International Energy Agency report says. But experts warn that the drop isn’t good news for climate change and emissions will likely soar again.
