In this moment of reckoning and reflection about racial inequity in our country, it’s time to be forthright about the inequalities in the rapidly expanding business of clean energy. While the industry as a whole grows, most of the jobs and financial benefits continue to go toward predominately white, affluent communities. In 2019, only 7.7 percent of the solar industry’s workforce was black.
