Previously unreported industry data have revealed that greenhouse gas emissions from Canada’s oilpatch have more than doubled so far this year to levels much higher than anticipated, as the country changes the way it measures emissions. The findings come as the country implements new plans to reduce emissions from methane, a potent climate pollutant.
