Even at the bottom of the ocean, where light cannot reach and temperatures hover near freezing, waters are warming quicker than scientists previously thought, a new study found. Monitors—some stationed deeper than 15,000 feet below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean—measured an increase of 0.02 to 0.04 degrees Celsius between 2009 and 2019.
