Winning Fiji student to speak at COP23

Update: 12:26PM ONE primary school student will have the opportunity to represent Fiji at the 23rd Conference of the Parties (COP23) in Bonn, Germany later this year after a series of oratory contests took place around the country last Saturday.

According to Patricia Mallam of the COP23 secretariat, the three divisional competitions from the Central, Western and Northern divisions would select a candidate between the ages of eight to 13 years to speak in the presence of the Prime Minister at the close of National Climate Week in Suva on Friday.

The winner of the nationwide search will get to deliver their speech in front of leaders at COP23 to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in November.

The divisional competitions had taken place at Suva Grammar School for the Central Division, at Natabua High School for the Western Division and at Labasa College in the Northern Division.
