Maryland’s Republican governor surprised advocates both for and against fracking last Friday when he endorsed legislation permanently banning fracking in the state, the Bay Journal reports.
“Because of Maryland’s unique position in the country and our wealth of environmental resources,” Gov. Larry Hogan said at a press conference, “our administration has concluded that the possible environmental risks of fracking simply outweigh any potential benefits.”
