An Offshore Wind Farm on Lake Erie Moves Closer to Reality, but Will It Ever Be Built?

North America is one step closer to finally seeing its first freshwater wind farm after Ohio regulators gave the project their final approval. Icebreaker will generate electricity from six massive wind turbines floating on the waters of Lake Erie—that is, if it gets built at all. After more than a decade of planning, the project is still jumping hurdles and polarizing environmental groups.
