As Oceans Warm, the World’s Kelp Forests Begin to Disappear

Kelp forests, which provide food and shelter for a variety of marine species, are disappearing as warmer waters invite in an invasive sea urchin species that mows down vegetation. In Tasmania, 95 percent of kelp forests are gone; the California coast is losing its kelp, too.
