Businesses Spent Millions Lobbying Before California’s Cap-and-Trade Vote

Petroleum trade group Western States Petroleum Association and at least seven oil companies spent over $34 million lobbying for California’s new cap-and-trade bill. Agriculture and utility companies also doled out millions. These industries stand to benefit from compromises in the legislation signed into law this week.
