California Regulator: ‘Extreme’ Auto Rules May Be Necessary to Counter Trump’s Pollution Increase

The head of California’s Air Resources Board is threatening to enact tough pollution rules, possibly even a ban on cars burning petroleum-based fuels, in response to the Trump administration’s plan to weaken vehicle emission standards. She says the state would be forced to pursue “extreme” measures to offset the pollution increase that would happen under Trump’s policies.
