Citizen scientists discover a new water beetle and name it after Leonardo DiCaprio

Citizen scientists decided to name a new water beetle, which they discovered in the pristine Maliau Basin, Malaysian Borneo, after Hollywood actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio. The tribute also marks the 20th anniversary of the celebrity’s Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation that supports various projects dedicated to the preservation of biodiversity and magnificent unspoiled habitats just like the home of the new species.
