EPA’s Pruitt Says ‘California Is Not the Arbiter’ of the Nation’s Emissions Standards

EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt said that the agency is not planning to set stricter fuel economy standards and questioned whether California should be able to enact its own tougher rules. California officials have suggested they might be open to relaxing their 2025 standards in exchange for national emissions limits through 2030, but Pruitt isn’t interested.
