Ford Motor Co. has launched an investigation into whether the company overstated fuel efficiency and understated tailpipe emissions from a wide range of vehicles after employees reported possible problems with internal mathematical models used to calculate vehicle performance in September. Depending on what is found, the company could face penalties.
