A senior adviser at the Energy Department who helped coordinate Rick Perry’s grid study this summer sought and received input about how to highlight coal’s importance from a Peabody Energy lobbyist, according to emails obtained by the Sierra Club. The resulting study—and Perry’s plan to boost the coal industry—emphasized one of the letter’s key points, Bloomberg reports.
