Hurricane Iota barreled into Nicaragua on Monday night as a Category 4 storm, as parts of Central America prepared for an onslaught of heavy rains, winds and flooding, the New York Times reports. Forecasters have warned that Iota could compound the destruction caused by Hurricane Eta, which only weeks ago killed at least 140 people throughout Central America.
