Hurricanes Are Staying Stronger Even Over Land as Oceans Warm From Climate Change, Study Finds

Climate change is making it more likely for hurricanes to retain their destructive force even as their paths make their way inland, where they would typically weaken hastily, a new study found. Half a century ago, a hurricane was likely to decay by 75 percent within 24 hours of making landfall, researchers say. But today, that weakening rate has declined to 50 percent.
