In a ruling hailed as an “immense victory for climate justice,” the Netherlands’ top court sided with activists Friday, ordering the Dutch government to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent of 1990 levels by the end of 2020. It’s the first time a government has been legally obligated to take action on climate change.
