To kick off the growing season, the Irish Seed Savers will host their annual Seed Share event at their site in Scariff, Co. Clare, on Sunday 5th March from 12pm – 4pm.
People young and old are invited to come along and bring any spare seeds they have to swap and share with others. You may arrive with some courgette or lettuce seeds, but leave with rare Emerald Apple tomato seeds from Russia.
While you are there, you can also take a stroll through their 20 acres of Organic Seed Gardens, Heritage Orchards and Native Woodland trails, or have a bite to eat in their cafe.

The Irish Seed Savers Association maintains the country’s public seed bank with over 600 non-commercially available varieties of seed. They conserve and grow heritage apple trees and other fruit tree varieties. They also run workshops throughout the year on various topics to teach others how to save seeds, grow their own food and be self-sustainable.
