A federal judge on Friday ordered William Pendley to be removed as head of the Bureau of Land Management, ruling that Pendley “served unlawfully as the Acting BLM Director for 424 days.” Pendley, who has been criticized for advocating that public lands be used for fossil fuel development and for questioning climate science, has led the agency without a Senate confirmation since July 2019.
