Nate Slams Mississippi as the 4th Hurricane in an Extraordinary Year to Make Landfall in the U.S.

Hurricane Nate — the fourth hurricane to make landfall in the U.S. this year — hit the Mississippi coast, causing flooding and leaving 40,000 people without power. The storm surge was as high as 11 feet in places, but mitigation efforts, such as new sea walls, since Hurricane Katrina limited the damage, officials said.
