Countries could begin taxing meat—the way they tax sugar, alcohol or tobacco—to drive down consumption of red meat and hit carbon emissions targets under the Paris climate agreement, according to investment network Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return. Just following national dietary guidelines reduces emissions, too.
