Tropical Storm Josephine Breaks a Record for Atlantic Storms, With More Likely on the Way

Tropical Storm Josephine formed in the Atlantic Ocean on Thursday, the earliest date on record for the formation of a J-named storm, another sign the Atlantic hurricane season is more active than usual, forecasters said. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is predicting as many as 25 named storms this season, the highest in the agency’s history.
