Political appointees at the Interior Department overruled staff objections to a rule that eased offshore drilling regulations created in response to the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill, The Hill reports. Scott Angelle, director of the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, reportedly told engineers working on the policy to delete language from memos that showed their opposition.
