The energy and water utilities are working on a number of projects to boost Fiji’s vision of reducing our carbon footprint.
With Fiji joining the International Solar Alliance, both utilities presented their submissions on the ISA framework agreement to the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence.
Fiji Electricity Authority, acting chief executive, Eparama Tawake says FEA is in collaboration with the International Solar Alliance.
“FEA’s vision is by 2025 we are to be 90 percent renewable similar to Government’s vision is to be hundred percent renewable by 2030.”
Being part of ISA allows Fiji to access funding to fight Climate change.
A hundred and twenty countries joined the International Solar Alliance proposed by the Indian Government during COP22.
Their objective is to efficiently exploit solar energy to reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
