Wyoming is following in the footsteps of North Dakota and will use federal coronavirus relief funding to help petroleum companies move ahead with oil and gas drilling projects interrupted by the pandemic and plug idle wells. But those funds were earmarked to plug and clean up old wells, not drill new ones, which is what’s happening in North Dakota, our reporting found.
