2016’s Record Heat Not Possible Without Global Warming, Study Says

For the first time, an American Meteorological Society annual report found certain extreme weather events in 2016, including the high temperatures that made it the hottest year on record, could not have happened without human-caused CO2 emissions. A separate study on 2017’s Hurricane Harvey found climate change made the storm’s extreme rainfall more likely and more intense.
