A Coal-Fired Power Plant in Texas is Reopening This Year, Despite Others Closing

A 420-megawatt coal-fired power plant in Texas that was shuttered last year is coming back online for the summer of 2021, the Houston Chronicle reports. The reopening comes as other coal plants in the state are closing because it’s cheaper to run plants powered by natural gas or renewables such as wind and solar power. The company running the plant couldn’t be reached for comment.
