The economic impacts of the coronavirus pandemic have crippled dozens of projects aimed at preventing flood damage from sea level rise along the coasts of California’s Bay Area, an NBC Bay Area investigation found. That includes a $4.7 billion state bond meant to help coastlines in Marin County, where one assessment says 1,400 properties and 3,000 residents are at increased flood risk.
