Brazil’s presidential election will likely have major ramifications for the Amazon, the world’s largest tropical forest. Jair Bolsonaro, the front-runner for the presidency, has promised to open up more forest to agricultural production. That would have dire consequences for the Amazon, and therefore for the rest of the planet.
