Coal power plant closures rang in the new year at an astounding rate, with plants in Montana, Arizona and New Mexico all set to shut down this year. Yet despite economic and political pressures to shed coal use, a handful of western utilities continue to operate coal plants with no plans to decommission them, the LA Times reports.
