In a meeting with global investors Thursday to address their rising concerns over destruction of the rainforest, Brazil’s government announced it planned to ban setting fires in the Amazon for 120 days. The decree comes after 29 global firms demanded President Jair Bolsonaro halt environmental destruction or risk disinvestment.
