Beenbawn Head Nature Walk

Bernard Goggin, a naturalist with a lifetime’s expoerience of nature, will lead a walk commencing at 2pm from Beenbawn carpark. The talk will provide an introduction to the attractive halophytic flora and marine zonation found in this area. The walk will take in a spectacular canyon like passage to a beach created over centuries by farmers collecting sand and seaweed. Oceanic seabirds, such as Fulmars, Gannets, and Black Guillemots, and also cliff nesting landbirds, including Choughs and Rock Doves, will hopefully be encountered en route.

National Biodiversity Week 2017 runs from 19 – 27 May. It’s a nature themed week with many different events nationwide designed to entertain, inform and inspire people, young and old, to get interested in nature and take action to protect Ireland’s native plants and animals.
