Court Strikes Down Trump Administration’s Methane Rollback

A federal court on Wednesday struck down a Trump administration rule that weakened restrictions on methane gas releases from drilling on public land, calling it “wholly inadequate” and restoring an Obama-era rule. The Bureau of Land Management changed the regulation in 2018 to allow for more methane leaks in a process called flaring, a move environmentalists criticized for adding to air pollution.
