Greenland’s ice sheet will melt at its fastest rate in 12,000 years this century, a new study projects. The research estimates that the ice sheet will melt at a rate of between 8,000 and 35,900 gigatons per century over the course of the 21st century, nearly six times faster than the pre-industrial rate of the Holocene era.
