In Parched Southwest, Warm Spring Renews Threat of ‘Megadrought’

With researchers warning of a megadrought in the Southwest, a relatively cool and wet spring last year followed by a decent snowpack in the fall and winter had some folks along the Colorado and Rio Grande rivers feeling optimistic that the harsh and dry conditions might be subsiding, the New York Times reports. But those hopes dried up as the snowpack quickly melted in April and May.
