Oil and Gas Fields Leak Far More Methane than EPA Reports, Study Finds

The amount of methane leading from U.S. oil and gas fields may be 60 percent higher than government estimates, according to a new study in the journal Science. The study presents compelling evidence that using natural gas as a bridge fuel may not be as effective a climate strategy as proponents suggest because of the gas industry’s inability to control leaks.
