Temperate countries like the U.S. have a greater variability in their climate, making them better able adapted to a wide range of temperatures. But many countries in the tropics, which are often poorer, are accustomed to less variation through the year, so a small rise in temperatures there will be distinctly felt and have immediate impacts, researchers write.
