The Trump Administration Has Proposed Testing for Oil in Arctic Wildlife Refuge This Winter

The Bureau of Land Management has proposed testing for oil deposits in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as early as December, according to a plan posted online Friday. The plan would conduct seismic testing in the refuge, including in an area where polar bears and other wildlife may be found. That type of testing can pose a serious threat to polar bear mothers and their cubs, our own reporting found.
