What’s On This Weekend for Biodiversity Week

May 25th, 2017

Biodiversity Week is coming to a close so don’t miss your last chance to celebrate Ireland’s diverse flora and fauna by taking part in some terrific events this weekend.

Biodiversity Week is a nationwide series of events taking place over ten consecutive days from 19th – 28th May 2017, and this weekend has lots in store! Why not meander along the Grand Canal path with the Irish Wildlife Trust, celebrate the great oak at Tomnafinnoge woods, or splash about courtesy of the great North Atlantic Ocean at Grattan Beach, Salthill. Take part in a seashore exploration and learn all that the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group know on their specialist subject.

Preparation and Appreciation of a Pollinator-friendly Urban Landscape

Join us for a two-part workshop on creating pollinator-friendly urban environments. Part one will be an indoor presentation on pollinators and their habitat requirements. Part two will take place outdoors on the grounds of Kilkenny Castle, and will involve carrying out field work on bumble bees and pollinator-friendly planting schemes including trees, shrubs, pond, meadow and garden.
