As coal’s decreasing profitability leads to financial struggles for the industry in Wyoming, more coal companies are filing for bankruptcy, putting in jeopardy the pensions and future of hundreds of employees. Despite the measures Wyoming politicians have taken to prop up coal, demand has shrunk, thanks to cheap natural gas and renewable energy sources.
