California will aim to conserve more than 30 percent of its lands and coastal waters by 2030, Gov. Gavin Newsom said Wednesday in announcing a new executive order. The order outlines a series of steps that the state will take to promote biodiversity, habitat restoration and other conservation efforts, as well as improving the state’s climate resilience to extreme events such as wildfires.
